Our Mission & Vision

“To offer people purpose and dignity through proven collaborative partners that impact the neighborhood.”

We accomplish this mission through two pathways. First of all, we offer services through collaborative partners as we provide volunteers, program space and financial support to help them be successful. Secondly, we offer direct emergency assistance to those in need, helping to fill gaps of service with our partners.

Our History


Because You Matter began in 2007 when Montrose Church Lifegroup leaders Brett and Sue DeLawter inspired their group to reach out to the homeless in the community. Countless hours and hundreds of faithful volunteers later, this outreach has grown to impact thousands of men, women and children with a variety of needs in our region.

Because You Matter is a strategic partner with Montrose Church, working alongside of their Faith Promise funding to assist in helping our community and world with acts of compassion and mercy for those in need.

Because You Matter, Inc. is a 501©3 non-religious, public benefit, non-profit corporation whose purpose it “to offer people purpose and dignity through proven collaborative partners that impact the neighborhood”.
